Downtown Beloit could see another development project

By WCLO – Nov 22, 2022

A vacant building in downtown Beloit is set to be demolished and turned into an outdoor space as part of a $16 to $20 million development project.

Director of Strategic Communication Sarah Lock says the property at 80-100 East Grand Avenue will be turned into a vibrant outdoor space and expanded river walk space.

Lock says the developer, a Hendricks company, also intends to build a four story, 48,000 square foot building that could include a restaurant, commercial uses, offices, or even residential uses.

Lock says no city of Beloit funding or local tax payer dollars will be used for the project, and instead they hope to secure grant funding.

The proposed public-private development involves the vacant structure at 80-100 East Grand Avenue, which the D-N-R says needs to be demolished by 2042.
