BELOIT — Michelle Sly stood amongst the crowd on State Street with a drink in her hand, enjoying the music played by That Gurl while patiently waiting for her party to arrive. This is her third year attending the Street Dance and she says she keeps returning for the music and the camaraderie.
“[I like to] get out and see people,” Sly said. “It’s nice to have it in one area where you can have a good time.”
Each end of State Street was blocked off by barricades to protect the many people milling about and the bands that performed on the makeshift stage. The musical entertainment this year played a mixture of funk, pop, and rock to suit the ’70s dance party theme this year.
