BELOIT — A portion of State Street in downtown Beloit will be resurfaced and railroad crossing technology may be upgraded at several location in the city next year.

State Street (State Highway 213) is scheduled to be resurfaced from the Wisconsin/Illinois state line to Broad Street, which will be about 0.17 miles, according to Christopher Hazard of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT).

The project could start between the middle of May and the beginning of July. The project is expected to be complete in 40 working days, Hazard said in an email.

A 2-inch short-term mill and asphalt overlay is planned for the roadway, which is a main entry point to downtown Beloit and runs in front of Beloit City Hall and the Beloit Police Department.
