BELOIT – Local shoppers on Saturday visiting the Winters Crafters and Farmers‘ Market can buy pies, fresh produce, gifts and also rub elbows with members of the USS Beloit crew. Commander Le Andra Kissinger will be among the crew members at the Downtown Beloit Association building, 557 E. Grand Ave., from 9 a.m.
The Saturday visit will be exactly two weeks before the USS Beloit is commissioned. On Nov. 23, beginning at 10 a.m., the ship will be put into servicee at Veterans Park in Milwaukee.
Following the ceremony, there will be a “Made in Beloit” post-commissioning reception that will include, among other things, pairing together Hormel Chili with Fritos and hot drinks by Kerry Inc., the presentation of colors by JROTC students from the Lincoln Academy and the National Anthem sung by Beloit Memorial High School student Anahi Arroyo.
