Shown from left are Betsy Schmiechen, owner of the Villager in Downtown Beloit, Nancy Clark-Mather, board member for the Beloit Art Center, and Greg Gerard, Beloit International Film Festival executive director. The wooden fish Clark Mather is holding was created by Schmiechen, which she donated to the Beloit Art Center at the conclusion of its Fish Frenzy auction. Dozens of wooden fish were auctioned to raise money for art classes and fitness classes for area cancer patients. The auction was held Aug. 1—15. Schmeichen designed the fish with a BIFF logo. She also displayed several fish art works in her store as the auction was going on. Clint Wolf/Beloit Daily News
