BELOIT – Two local small businesses will receive $10,000 each to upgrade the look of their stores thanks to grants from American Express and Main Street America.
Bountiful Beloit and Chic & Unique were two of just 500 businesses across the country and 59 in Wisconsin and Illinois to be awarded the Backing Small Business grants.
“We’ve applied for so many grants, I didn’t think we had a chance,” said Megan Warntjes, co-owner of Chic & Unique, which has been operating at 318 State St. in downtown Beloit since 2016.
“When I found out we’d won, I said ‘are you kidding me?”
